The main image on this cover is of a character on stage in an opera. This is an image that will appeal to, and will be recognisable to, the average reader of this magazine as they will most probably enjoy and be accustomed to attending operas. The use of classical colours such as red and yellow on the image, connote wealth which would also appeal to an average reader of this magazine who is likely to fall in to the 'upper class' social status (A).
By including a competition, the magazine is likely to attract more readers who are interested in winning the prize. The prize of 'tickets to the opera' also links perfectly with the genre of this magazine, and also will appeal highly to the interests of the average reader of this magazine. The red background of the text allows the text to stand out on the dark background as it is red, and also fits in with the colour theme of the front cover.
The fact that the price of this magazine is clearly indicated on the front cover to be £5.95 helps to suggest that this magazine is aimed at higher class people.
The theme of the classical colours red and yellow allow the front cover to stay simple looking, therefore creating an overall classiness to the cover which will appeal to its target audience.
Overall, all of the things above indicate to how a magazine targeting a different audience to what mine will be, attracts its audience. I can clearly see that the target audience to this magazine is vastly different to what the target audience of my magazine, and the other magazine i have analysed is different.
