Kerrang Feature Article Analysis

This two page spread is from the magazine Kerrang! and is part of a much larger article covering 8 pages.

Design/Layout: The first thing i noticed about this spread is how the title: "All That Glitter" makes numerous links with the rest of page. It links well with the colour scheme as well as the various star images across the page. Glitter in itself connotes a certain type of flamboyancy which is depicted in the clothes the band are wearing. They are dressed smartly which shows that they are clearly wealthy, and the colours of the clothes also match the colour scheme of the page. The page also has examples of the standard features found commonly in most feature articles e.g. A kicker, drop cap, guttering, and a main body of text.

Content: The band that have been featured have clearly been thought about in regards to whether they will appeal to the magazines target audience. At first i thought that the band Muse would be better suited to a different magazine such as NME, but after thinking about it further i can see why this band will nowadays, appeal to Kerrang's audience also. They have become one of, if not the biggest band in the world and have gained interest from many different types of people so therefore do fit in with he rest of the content of this magazine.
